The CfD Hub — UK Contracts for Difference, explained
An independent explorer for the UK Contracts for Difference scheme: what each contract guarantees, what the projects generate, and what the scheme costs or returns.
What a Contract for Difference is
Contracts for Difference (CfDs) guarantee generators a CPI index-linked Strike Price for their metered output over a 15-year contract period, extended to 20 years for wind and solar projects in the most recent allocation round (AR7).
Since the closure of the Renewables Obligation (RO) in 2017, Contracts for Difference have been the main support mechanism incentivising investment in commercial-scale low-carbon electricity generation. By 2032, CfD-supported projects are expected to deliver the majority of Great Britain’s subsidised renewable electricity.
The Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC) is the counterparty to every CfD. When the market reference price sits below a project’s strike price the LCCC pays the generator the difference; when it sits above, the generator pays back. This site takes the LCCC’s published data and lets you view it filtered, aggregated and project by project.
What the data covers
612 CfD contracts are in the register: 88 operational, 473 not yet generating and 51 terminated. The 561 live contracts hold 49.8 GW of contracted capacity across 12 technologies and allocation rounds AR1, AR2, AR3, AR4, AR5, AR6, AR7, BC, IC. Settlement data runs to 6 August 2026.
Live contracts by nation: England 379, Scotland 139 and Wales 41.

- Map — Every UK CfD project mapped — capacity, technology, strike price and status, onshore and offshore, with a timeline scrubber across the scheme.
- Strike Prices — Output-weighted CfD Adjusted Strike Prices in real £/MWh, broken down by nation, technology and auction round, actual and projected.
- Net Flows — CfD payments between the LCCC and generators: strike price against the market reference price, and the net cash flow that follows from the gap.
- Outputs — Actual and projected generation from UK CfD projects in GWh, by nation, technology and auction round — every breakdown reconciling to one total.
- Projects — Every UK Contract for Difference project in one table: technology, sponsor, capacity, strike prices, load factors, and actual and expected output.
- Load Factors — Observed and projected load factors for UK CfD projects by technology — capacity-weighted from metered output, with NESO and DESNZ assumed defaults.
- About — How The CfD Hub is built: the LCCC, NESO, DESNZ and ONS sources behind every figure, and how forward output and strike prices are projected.
